Special products for babies’ first days in the hospital
“In collaboration with doctors, midwives and nursing staff, we develop tailored solutions on an ongoing basis.” In Germany, most children continue to be born in hospitals because new parents opt for the greatest possible safety. They simply want good care and a general sense of well-being for those first hours and days with their baby. There is always someone available to help. In particular, the most basic tasks – dressing and undress- ing, changing, bathing – are not all that easy in the beginning. Mummy and baby also need to find out how breastfeeding works best. Expert help is good to have. Very delicate newborns and babies born prematurely need very special care – NUK developed its own line of products for them. Newborns can train sucking with special teats and soothers so that they can drink at the breast as soon as possible. For very small babies, NUK worked with experts to develop an intermediate-sized soother for when standard size 1 is too large. Over the years, NUK has cre- ated a large range of products which are used in hospitals today. We spoke with Annette Ryschka, who has been collaborating closely with hospitals for NUK for 25 years: Developed for gentle beginnings
